ABOUT

jill r 1Restaurant grunt turned attorney, attorney turned personal chef.

I have three college degrees, but the most important things I know I learned as a diner waitress when I was 17. Listen. Repeat. Smile. Food is life. Don’t stop moving. Do more than what’s expected. Focus and teamwork will get you out of the weeds. People want to be heard. People want to feel understood. People want to feel special. Details matter. Smile.

In 2014 I left the security of a litigation career at a wonderful law firm to pursue something that made me excited to get out of bed every morning. Before I became a lawyer, I spent 19 years working in restaurants in my home state of Connecticut. Legal Pantry was born out of a desire to combine my passion for food and cooking with my passion for helping people. My personal chef service allows my clients to eat well and put time back in their schedule so they can enjoy the things that they are passionate about – spending more time with their loved ones, starting their own business, training for an Ironman. My clients are busy people who desire meals that are tailored to their personal preferences and lifestyle. I will work with your nutritionist, personal trainer, or health care professional to create a menu that meets your needs. With each personal chef service, I will:

  • Plan a custom menu for your approval.
  • Hand-pick the freshest, local and seasonal ingredients for your meal.
  • Spend 3-4 hours in your home freshly preparing your meals.
  • Neatly package, label and store your meals for your convenience.
  • Provide you with a menu and detailed reheating and serving instructions.
  • Clean-up your kitchen as I found it, or better.
  • Leave you with a fridge full of freshly prepared, high-quality, custom meals.
  • Special diets can be accommodated.

In addition to weekly meal preparation services, I also offer private dinner parties for small intimate groups, and private in-home cooking classes/demos.

Eat well. Live bravely.

When I’m not cooking, researching recipes, or creating menus for my clients, I volunteer as a Wish Granter for Make-A-Wish Northeast New York. To further my commitment to this organization that brings hope, strength, and joy to children with life-threatening illnesses, in 2011 I founded and organize Wish Jump, and annual skydiving fundraiser for Make-A-Wish Northeast New York. I’m also a volunteer Angel for Ainsley’s Angels New York and My Team Triumph, organizations with a mission to enrich the health and well-being of individuals with disabilities by fostering long-lasting, authentic relationships through the teamwork environment of endurance athletics.
